I didn't want this to get lost in the other thread concerning undercarriage and axle rust.
This morning, while the truck was warming up, simply to get the moisture off of the mirrors and windshield, I took a look under the truck to see if my rust situation was any worse.

Answer: Definitely worse. There are two noticeable perforations in the exhaust system and I'm now re-opening my complaint with Ford.

What really steams me is that Ford is trying to blame Granger for this defection condition, and also calling it "cosmetic" - that it doesn't impact mechanical. Clearly that's BS. Just like trying to call out Granger for this (Ford went as far as telling me to insist that the GM at Granger replace my vehicle!)

I will continue to urge other members of this Forum to challenge Ford on this rust issue.
Time to notify the reporter at the FREEP as well...

Pretty sure that's the drain hole in the muffler.

Unpainted steel. You could hit it with some BBQ paint. Not sure how long that would last.
I see you are along the coast. I lived down there for close to 30 years. Stuff rusts like crazy down there from all the salt in the air. A buddy lived on Anna Maria and his home a/c unit would rust out every 6 or 7 years. I lived about a mile from Sarasota Bay for half the time down there and I had a 1967 Fairlane. It was a constant battle cleaning up surface rust on fasteners and all.

Completely agree with you on the environmental rusting - but it shouldn't be this prevalent on a truck that's only been in service for a month.
I'll keep an eye on it, but I think Ford may need to rethink the "cosmetic" nature of their replies to those of us with major rust under the truck.

I guess spend the time to see what your dealer says. Or go buy some aftermarket exhaust that's stainless.... That's what I did on my Mustang.
