Hello I bought a used 21 crew cab xlt a month ago and being a used truck I knew that it wouldn’t be imperfect condition. But it was in really great shape minus some typical rust. I live in Kentucky but the first owner was in Michigan based on the info from the car fax listed on the dealers website when I was looking at the truck.

Today I noticed a pretty good size scratch down the side of the passenger running board and as I was looking at it I not too hard but firmly hit the end cap and it popped right off. It looks like it was glued on. And the scratch continues under where the end cap was. Does anyone know of the end caps are just glued on to the running board or was this “repaired” at some point Also I feel like I would have noticed this decent sized scratch on the running board when looking at the truck. I recently took it through a brushed Carwash, could that have taken any touch up paint off?

Someone glued it on... I highly doubt the factory uses wood glue.

Mine (exact same) tore off too, not sure how. There's one bolt. Picture shows part number. I found a replacement for about $6 on ebay including the bolt and clip.

Thanks. I saw them on eBay as well. How was it buying from there? Never bought anything from eBay?

Where are you located and how much are you wanting? Will they come with the mounting brackets? Mine are starting to rust on the forward side of the brackets

I normally leave Atlanta early and head up 24 through Paducah but I can take 75 to Lexington 64 thru Louisville. And onto IL.

Do yourself a favor and buy yourself a take off set of running boards from a Lariat. That’s what I did, much nicer looking and wider than the cheap XLT boards.

I didn’t know there was any difference in running boards other than the extended boards
Yes, the XLT is not as nice as the Lariat’s or as wide unless you get the extended boards. Just look at the photo in the listing, I can already see you have the narrow standard running boards.
