I have the roll n lock (without the slotted rails) and love it. Been on the truck for maybe 3 months and is very water tight. Minimal water at the tailgate corners Only

Awesome. Can you open it up without the key when it’s locked by opening the tailgate?

No…..I clipped a key to the tie down loop for quick acess if needed to unlock. . For me it works as i rarely need to open unlock it. I have the bed/tailgate rug with the ford bed divider. Acts as a trunk for my golf clubs LOL.

I love my Retrax Pro XR. It is amazingly strong and very smooth to operate. It is also easy to install.

I really like my Roll n Lock A XT but I'm sure you cant go wrong with either. Install was a breeze. I'd say my only gripe is the rope used to extend the cover can be cumbersome and get in the way sometimes. I believe you grab the Retrax from the side which can be advantageous, unless you are shorter or have a lift.

What I like about the Retrax is it can be latched at any position. I'm not sure if the Roll n Lock can, I think it has a few positions it can be latched.

I find this especially helpful when I have something long like a board sticking out on top of the tailgate. I pull the cover up against it and it helps hold it in place.

You are correct, the Roll n Lock can only be latched in three different positions.

The Retrax does not stop water from entering the bed. I know this from personal experience. The RnR may be the better solution?

I would say the Roll n Lock is water resistant but definitely not water tight. There are two drains, but I still notice a bit of water in the corners after a storm. If the bed contents cannot get wet then they need to be in sealed bins under the cover.

I had a Roll-N-Lock on my '22 short bed. It was easy to install and use, but it wasn't watertight enough for my purposes. I wasn't expecting perfection. It's made of aluminum slats after all. Two days of off-and-on rain in the Smoky Mountains left everything in the bed soaked.

Hi all!
im looking to buy a retractable tonneau cover with t-slots for a rack/cross bars. Narrowed it down to these two. I like the smaller box size of the rollNlock, 7.5” vs 12”, but the retrax looks stronger with lifetime warranty. Putting it on a 21’ PB 5.5’ bed.

any owners out there with input?

Thanks!

My 22 has the Retrax on it for about 8 mos. Won’t keep the bed dry but does stop some water. Locks in any position and I don’t need the key to open it.

My experience is that the Retrax keeps the bed dry. I might get a trickle at the tailgate going through the car wash, but not enough to notice.

This is my experience as well. The cover doesn't let any water in but it does get in around the tail gate.
