My "Embark" (Pro XR rebadge) leaks like CRAZY, both through the slats and the sides. I got the truck in December of '22, so I'm heading back to the dealer to try and figure out either a repair or a return. I love how it operates but have not been happy with the water ingress. Nothing stays dry.

Here are some pics after it rained for a few hours

Yours Leaks even more than mine, I have yet to install the new cover Retraxx (RealTruck) sent me. I have noticed a manufacture defect in my current one. With the cover open the cannister is sitting lower on the right side versus the left. This could be one of the many problems. I don't have a photo of it at this moment. I've resorted to HDX bins for carrying things.

I understand the Retrax isn't 100% waterproof but this is an absurd amount of leaking in my opinion. The tailgate leak is

expected but through the slats or rails at the sides seems odd. Has anyone had this problem?
I have the X4S and it's been nothing short of a nightmare. Leaks like crazy along the bed and soaks everything. Realtruck has been zero help. Takes forever to get a callback and they claim that after the cover is installed they don't do refunds. How am I supposed to know it's going to leak BEFORE I install it. It looks great but is useless if it leaks this much. I'm going back to my old school soft one that sits on top of the bed, and I've filed a complaint (to go along with a LOT of others) with the BBB.

I had the same water issue with the Retrax PRO MX. I spoke with Retrax customer service and they authorized its return. Very pleasant and professional, and made my return experience easy. My two-week ownership experience was not great owing to the amount of water that entered the bed.
  1. As the cover travels along the side rails, there is a gap where the slats fit into the side rails. Water will come through this gap and subsequently travel along the underside of the slats.
  2. Water collects on the bottom of the rail track and will splatter or drip over the tiny lip which runs the length of the rail. The lip keeps the ball-bearing rollers on the rail but does little to contain water that collects on it.
  3. The aluminum slats are not sealed and over time water can make its way through the seam between adjacent slats.

If the top of the side rail channel had a gasket to impede water from entering, and the bottom of the side rail had more of a u-shape to contain and redirect water, I'd reconsider the Retrax. I really love its utility, but water management is not in its DNA.
