Replacing Ambient Air Temp sensor How-To?

Anyone know how to access it? It’s at the bottom of the passenger side mirror. Looks like it’s sitting in a removable plastic trim piece, but I have no clue how to fully remove it. Looks like you have to remove the part of the mirror that swivels to uncover all of it. Anybody done this yet?

It started acting crazy with major temp swings then not registering at all. Took it to dealer and they reset it and cleared the codes. But it’s still off by like 10-30 degrees. But not far off enough to trigger another code so they won’t replace it. It’s a $17 part and I figure I’d fix it myself…

Just FYI the workshop manual procedure for Ambient (outside) Air Sensor R&R is 8 pages (covers both standard and TT mirrors) and calls for removal of mirror glass along with the mirror cap among other things to gain access.

If the sensor is replaced it also calls for Reset the Outside Air Temperature Sensor Learned Values using FDRS. I do not know if there's a way to effect that reset with FORScan.
