Rear End Clicking

Just a thought, this is similar to the improperly torqued axle u bolts.

I've had this noise since I bought the truck and have taken it to the dealership several times. It was initially that every F150 makes this noise and then it progressed to not being able to duplicate it, no problem found. It only happens when stopping or starting and is pretty intermittent.

Does anyone have any idea what this is so I can start somewhere?

I have the exact same thing with my '22 powerboost Lariat.

When staring out or putting the break on, I hear a clinking coming from the back end.

I actually thought it was my transmission and had my dealership look at it. They did find something wrong with the trans but it wasn't the clink.

Its going in again in a few weeks to have it looked at so @charlesdf22 , if you have learned anything new please post. And if they end up fixing mine, I'll post back here as well!

It drives me insane. I feel like my axels or maybe leaf springs are lose or I'm intrigued by someone's post that both u-joints were gone.

So Phyllis in, what camera are you using and what amount? This could help quite a few people down the road.

This problem made me so crazy, that I rationalized getting a new GoPro13 from Costco, the Media Mod case, and the Jaws Flex mount. The clamp is on the shield for the spare tire and I've gotten up to about 35mph and it had not budged. Recorded at 4k and had to drop to 1080 to upload to the site.

Of course when I take it in, they can never duplicate it. I've actually tried to duplicate a few times since this recording to get the other side and the driveshaft to no avail. They did replace my pinion seal, as it was leaking, so I had hoped that it was that, with no luck.

Out of curiosity, what is your blend or build date?

Not sure my build date. I got the truck in July so i'd guess April or May? If i find it, i'll let you know.

I'm a bit lucky that the service director at my dealership has been a buddy of mine for years and the other day i dropped him off and when i drove away from him, he heard it. So at least he knows i'm not crazy!

So i took my '22 Powerboost in and Ford ended up replacing the rear axels under 23s65 which is a recall. So far so good, i'm not hearing the clinking noise in the back end. I've also noticed that i had a rental truck when they had mine and it didn't roll back as far as mine did previous to the replacement. Fingers crossed, this is the fix. Good luck to you guys!
