While not claiming to be an expert, I see a bit of misinformation here. Generally, tint is either dyed (the super cheap shit that turns purple), metallic, ceramic.
Metallic is just that - a super thin sheet of film with tiny metal particles. While some films are silver in color, you can get traditional grey/charcoal color as well. The cons, supposedly, are they can interfere with cell and radio signals. You're effectively in a farady cage.
Ceramics don't have the signal issue and may have more of a matte appearance. Possibly better heat and UV rejection over metallic as well.
Here's my truck with 50% ceramic on the windshield and dealer-tinted driver/pass windows. I will be going with Llumar 20% ceramic inside the full cab once it warms up.
