Hey all,

Long story short, dealership scratched a rim and side step but I had a hard time proving it with them... Fortunately, both are replaceable bolt on parts. There's a local person selling extended side steps/running boards whereas mine are not. I'm tempted to pick them up as they look new and unscratched. But I'm curious if they pick up more dirt from the real wheel. It looks like I'd have to remove the "Rear Wheel Well Aero Shield" aka that mini front mud flap to accomodate? How do you like the extended steps? Does it really help with access to the truck bed? Would you order them again if ordering a F-150?

Love my extended power boards. Mud/Dirt? Nothing a pressure washer can't fix ?

I like mine a lot. And yes, makes it nice accessing things towards the front of the bed. As for the "mini mud flap" on the front of the opening it does not have. Just the thin profiled plastic edge protector. Which with the running board being extended it somewhat serves the same purpose. First truck I've had with these and would opt for them in the future. My .02 cents.

That's a good looking truck. Also love Alaska! Done two float trips in Gates of the Arctic and a backpacking trip in Lake Clark. I can't wait to visit again.

I haven't had to use mine yet, but glad it's there for when I do. And yes, it only has an edge protection for the front corner of the rear wheel well. Dang I need an updated picture that has the wheel liners as it looks naked. lol

I happen to have aftermarket wheel-to-wheel running boards. I really love the bed-access assist and mud build-up is a non-event (easily washes off just like the mud accumulated elsewhere).

No downside with extended running boards, IMO.

(and they look better / more 'complete', too!)

Thanks. I haven't done it, but from what I've seen and heard those float trips are truly unreal and amazing!

The Ford ones are too narrow to be as effective as I would like but they were what the dealer ordered. On my prior truck I had long and 7 inch wide running boards and they were very effective at keeping road debris from getting tossed up along the sides of the truck.

I have a '23 Lariat PB that was April '23 custom build and it didn't come with the longer "aero' flaps for the rear. I know some here had replaced their longer with the lower profile rear edge caps (didn't like the look) that came on other trucks and those are what came on my truck. So, if the factory later made a change in making the longer rear aero flaps a "non-necessity" item on the truck then if I was you, I would just replace yours with the low profile edge caps if needed to make your application work.
