I had a strange experience with my remote control on my 2021 F-150 Tremor. I went to an appointment and parked in a stall next to the building. First, the doors would not lock with the remote or manually. I came back to the truck about 30 minutes later and the truck would not start. It wouldn't turn over it was like the start button was not working. I got out and tried the remote start function on my cell phone app and it started, I thought I was on my way. The message on the instrument panel said, "push start to drive vehicle" I tried, and nothing happened except a new message, "no remote detected". So, I was stuck the truck would start but would not move. I called a tow truck and they had to put plastic skids on the rear wheel to winch it onto the carrier, since it would not come out of park. At the dealer, I tried to start it and it started fine. The dealer got right on it and after about an hour, told me that the truck's battery failed a load test, a new battery was going to be installed. I was on my way in about 2 hours, although the truck's battery being the problem didn't make sense to me.
Two weeks later I had an appointment at the same location and parked in the same parking place. I had the exact same problem again. I asked the business if there was a burglar alarm sensor on that side of the building or maybe a wifi router nearby but there was nothing. As I started to call the tow truck again, I noticed a small black box with a cable and antenna attached on the exterior wall under the eaves directly in front of my truck. The box had a "sign signal strength" indicator. It is a wireless connection to a sign with a message board and time and temperature display. I unscrewed the antenna and like magic my truck started. I informed the dealer and they had never heard of the problem. The only explanation is that somehow the radio frequency of the sign blocked the signal from my remote to the truck.
This may never happen to anyone else but if it does this may solve the mystery. Of course, now I park far away from the building.
