For the past week, as soon as I hit the start button on my truck my windshield wipers run once. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have had the truck since October and the wipers have always been set to auto, so nothing has changed as far as I know. It's not a huge deal, but a bit odd.
I just received the recall notice on the Ford app for the wiper motor, but I do not think they are related.

Just a thought (because my fusion does this and I finally figured out why, at least in my case) if you have the wipers set to that first notch for rain sensing, the forward camera doesn't take much to tell the wipers to run.

I also wouldn't be surprised if the recall does actually have something to do with it. They keep cramming more little micro brains in every part these days.

Hopefully someone that knows more than I do (an easy feat) will chime in

Though I leave mine on Auto also, you should know, they are meant to be left on OFF, and then to auto when you are getting some precipitation.

Why?... The "rain" sensor does not actually detect moisture, if is a camera/light sensor aimed near the top of the windshield and it detects a change in reflection (usually due to water on the outside of the windshield). However, it can be "confused" by different lighting (like in a garage with a spot light directly above) and dust/dirt.

I would guess in your case, something small has changed... oak pollen...? etc.

That makes sense and I didnt even think about it being tied to a camera.

It has been rainy early in the week, with lots of pollen, so I skipped my weekly truck washing this past weekend. Now I have to hear about it being dirty from the wife and now the dang truck!

Mine has started this as well. I just contributed it to a dirty windshield, which looks like that could be the case.

Could also be the courtesy wipe that is selectable in vehicle settings.

Ok, I just washed the truck and that seemed to do the trick. Thanks all!

Mine does it in the morning sometimes, could be a little moisture blocking the sensor.

This. I set this option day one, loved it until winter. Couldn't figure why until I went through the forums, ha ha ahhh, oops.

Courtesy wipe is directly related to using the windshield washer. If your window is dry on start up, it doesn't make sense that this one wipe would be from that.

Yeah it has to do with a loss of comm. it happens to me once in a while too. It’s a reset procedure.

it wipes once andturns off. The same as if when you first turn the workers on. They turn on. Calibrate to having rain sensing and stop. It’s an issue with the sccm or the actual rain sensor.
I’ve had all kinds of strange issues with rain sensing wipers.

having it happen once a day though is odd. You may have your battery checked.
The only real way to have it not happen is to leave the wipers in the off position.

I would suggestif it’s happening that often start the truck. Turn wipers off. Go into the vehicle settings and wipers turn rain sense off. Wait a sec then turn it back on then turn the wipers back to whereyou want them they’re I’ll wipe andturn off.

that will reset them

Thanks all. I'm keeping an eye on it, but no issues since I washed the truck. Its raining on it now, so we will see how it does when dirty again.

I also checked and the courtesy wipe is off and has never been turned on, so I'm pretty sure that is not it.
