I really thought the hybrid was going to do great with my driving pattern: lots of short trips (i.e. less than 5 miles) around town. But, I find that around town I get around 17mpg (or LESS), but if I get up on the interstate, it'll eventually climb to close to 24MPG. I think that my "around town" driving doesn't give the truck enough time to warm up and be "efficient." I'm driving 2 miles to the pub, the truck sits for a few hours, then 2 miles home. Those are about 15MPG... if I am lucky.

? Cheers! ?
Agreed. Those very short trips put alot of gasoline into an engine warmup... again & again & again.

I have read many posts on here where many of you are enjoying great MPG. I average between 19-20 MPG regardless if I am city or highway which is not bad for the average truck but nowhere close to the 24 combined MPG advertised on my window sticker. I did have the dealer install a 2" front level kit but did not see a noticeable difference before or after (and I doubt that would account for over 4 MPG). I am definitely not an aggressive driver in my truck. I have other vehicles for that.
So on a Camaro ZL1 forum I was reading someone was getting 11 MPG when he purchased and couldn't figure out why it was so low. After trying several things he was told to disconnect his battery cable for a couple hours to reset the fuel tables. After doing so his MPG went up to 18 MPG. Is that possible something that could work with the F-150 as well?
There's a reset code accessible through FORScan. I did it and it didn't make any difference.
I then had the dealer reset "everything" (which made no difference) while attempting to fix a transmission shifting problem, which was later fixed by a service bulletin including mechanical adjustments at the transmission. I rarely see better than 20 mpg, but I drive mostly sustained high speed on freeways.

p.s. which leveling kit?

When has anyone achieved the window sticker mileage? I am happy with the 20+mpg on my PB so far. Its better than what I got with my prev '16 Explorer 3.5 EB.

Actually, there are a lot of posts on this forum saying they are getting the posted mileage and better. But the gas milage is not a deal breaker either way. It is still a fast truck! Now if they can get everything else on the window sticker working I'll be happy. Been in service since Tuesday. We will see how it comes back. Fingers crossed!

I use the Fuelly app to keep tabs of my mileage. Along with calibrating my AFE Bias so the dash reads accurately to within .2 mpg. Trip 1 gets reset every fill-up. Trip 2 every oil change. My 1st oil change at 5856 miles had me at 22.9 avg from new (March 23 - July 30). Second oil change at 15515 miles was down to 21.9.
Two factors here: #1-Winter blend fuel: I saw the mpg's drop consistent with the fuel blend and also colder weather. #2-Letting my wife drive it for a 'girls trip'! She's horrible about saving gas . There's regularly a 2mpg difference in any vehicle we share between us.
I changed oil right after her trip so I'll be monitoring again and hope to see the mpg's go back up.
My best has been 23.3 on a full tank mid October.
I'm a smooth driver and usually run in "Eco" mode but my highway driving is regularly at 75-80mph during my daily work commutes. city/hwy is about 50/50. Short trips to the store if below 45-50mph usually net me 26-27mpg. Short trips under 10 miles are the worst - 17-19mpg. Colder engine, less charge & not enough battery usage.
Overall, I just wish they used a larger battery and allowed more electric motor (bigger?) to augment start-stopping in 1st-2nd gear. Once underway it's very smooth and powerful. It just feels like the hybrid is not doing enough at low speeds above parking lot speed. Perhaps an OTA update to enable more electric?

I have the same issue. 2021 F150 3.7L Hybrid fully loaded Limited. In Houston I can drive in eco mode no faster than 40Mph for 20 miles and not ever go over 1,500 RPM and I still won't get better than 20.4 Mpg. Maybe it is the humidity, 20 in wheels and regular unleaded because it sure in hell isn't my driving habits. Ocam's razor tells me Ford simply lied.

Stop and go kills MPG. Driving style also plays a huge role. Getting into the turbos kills MPG as well.

I am curently driving a 2019 Ranger until my truck is delivered. If i recall, the posted MPG is 21/26. Last year before the cold weather and winter mix, i was at 26.8 avg.
Winter it dropped to 24.1.

If I drive aggressive, i cant do better than 21.5. Lots of stop and go in the city, its around there, at 22.

People dont want to admit it, but driving habits has a huge effect on MPG. Stomp on it when you leave light......gas than break to stop...gonna eat gas.

My son and i drove the same car. When I had it, lifetime MPG was a little over 28 mpg. When he got it as a hand me down, dropped to 19 MPG. I reset the mpg when i gave it to him....

I've owned my PB for over a year and have learned a lot about MPG and where it shines and where it's just a truck. First of all, if you want to learn more about how the PB manages power, EV Coach is helpful. It can help you drive within EV and regen modes.

I get my best MPG on my commute which averages just 30 mph. That promotes lots of EV driving. Of the 26 mile commute, over half of it is in EV mode. 30 mpg is easy. I think my best ever was 34.4 mpg.

Higher speeds means less EV mode operation. I don't see much benefit in "Hybrid" (gas engine on) mode, which probably explains the window sticker's 1 mpg highway bump.

We also own a '13 Explorer Sport (3.5 EB in case you don't know them). Our neighbor also owns one. She gets 17-18 on her trips across the PA Turnpike, and we get 24-25. She drives like gas is free, but complains about the price, and doesn't understand how constant speed changes and higher speeds in general really impact MPG. The increase in fuel consumption is not linear with speed... it's exponential.

Winter (colder temps in general) seems to drop mpg a good bit. The gas motor runs more to heat things up. I also run real A/T tire in the winter (Falken Wild Peak) and they don't help either. Warm weather and 30 mpg back road jaunts is where this thing shines (mpg-wise anyway).

One more anecdote. My daughter has a '16 Escape with the 1.6 EB and AWD. I changed the Escape's oil last Fall and noticed here avg mpg was 25.0. I hadn't checked my truck's avg mpg, so I did... and at that time it was 25.2. Geez... better than an Escape.

I just took a trip from Tampa to New Orleans with my wife and fully loaded with food and gear for a week in an RV. I got 24 MPG. Around town I get around 18-19 MPG and I am about 15-20% on electric. I'm satisfied with that as long as it stays. I also switched to non-Ethanol gas to see if that makes a difference. It does. I'm now getting 20-21 MPG around town. Oh, and I got 9.6 MPG pulling a 32 foot Travel Trailer weighing about 6200 pounds.

We currently own a 2010 Escape hybrid and a 2015 CMax hybrid. We get amazing fuel economy in the slow rush hour traffic in Dallas. One thing that really makes a big difference for us is what the hypermilers call the "fake shift". Gently get up to your speed but then completely lift your foot off accelerater like you are going to shift a manual trans and then sloooowly apply the accelerater to maintain speed. This works really well on our cars but we do have a CVT Trans. This may help in the F150 PB too. I can get about 37mpg in my escape using the fake shift in city driving.

I might have missed it in this thread, but I didn't notice the octane people are putting in their PBs. I have been getting 20.4 - 20.7 on 87 octane regularly , it is my wife's vehicle primarily and she tends to drive it like it is a sports car so I am not complaining.
I have heard running on 91 - 93 increases the MPGs, but with the higher gas prices now especially here in California I don't want to spend the extra 30 cents a gallon and see if I can get better MPGs.
