Playing the waiting game

Hello All - I placed a new order for a '21 f150 Lariat on March 22. No information was or has been available from the gen14 website when I plug in my "vin number" or order number. Neither was the link my salesman gave me to track my order. My local dealer sort of gave me a build date of July 6, but I can't find that info anywhere. I'm just trying to find out why Ford can't be more transparent with this situation, as it's frustrating to say the least. Any thoughts that anyone can pass along would be appreciated. Thanks

My order was placed March 10, and I got a VIN a week later. Lariat 502a to be built in KC sometime, but not yet. Welcome to the club. We don't even get the 1K for late delivery.. Ford sure screwed a lot of people!

Thanks, Bill for the info. I just saw the $1K back ad from Ford, and you're right, we get screwed with that too. I even checked other Ford dealers throughout the state, and no one has any inventory. Dealerships are not swapping cars like they've been doing for decades either. What an absolute mess, to put it mildly.

I placed my order on March 20, it's been received by FORD on 4/14 and all I have at the moment is my VIN #. No sticker, blend or build date, just annoying "In Order Processing" status. KC regular cab truck of course. $2K PCO will expire in July 6 and yes, I feel a bit disappointed.

1. The gen14 website merely pull info off Ford website they have no more info than Ford gives up.

2.If you have a VIN and an Order Number your truck will be built before end of MY, period. If you have a K in your VIN, it is a Kansas City build and this means before (5?) Dec 2021.

3. if your dealer has given you a build date, that is likely from the internal Ford system only dealers can access... not publicly avail. Don't put too much stock in this tho... most of us have had 3/ 4/ 5 or more build dates.

4. anything more is pure speculation or lies... no one [including Ford apparently] knows when your truck will be built.

This whole experience have been a shitshow, but if its any consolation your are not alone, there are hundreds of thousands of us... Ford has been equally deplorable in its treatment of all its customers this year. The shortage of parts is beyond Fords control but their shitty communication to its customers is all on them... right down to the dealers and salesmen. Fuck them.

Ordered Jan 23. Confirmed Jan 25th. Vin came shortly after that. In production 4/28 (as scheduled). ETA 5/15. Then 8/15. Now it's 10/31 (citing chip on hold at plant). So I might be in the market for an FY22 instead. Oh - and everything my dealer told me was a pile of bs, such as 'we have allocation so your build will take priority since it's a top line lariat, blah blah blah'....

your dealer knows there are 3 models above Lariat doesn’t he? I mean, don’t get me wrong, Lariat is a beaut, but we side by side with a limited?

My observation is if you ordered after 4/1 your F150 will be built in a relatively typical time frame. The line was black week of 5/17, 5/24 and this week, 6/7 because they ae out of parts. Trucks ordered week if 4/12 are already arriving at dealers. If you ordered prior to that you are in a holding pattern of one type or another. No idea when your truck will arrive but I would bet August or September.

I wish they made a Lariat or above in a Regular Cab SB.

XLT is as far as you can go if you need the 122” wheelbase and even then, many of the XLT options aren’t available.

302A with the sport package would be nice an a RCSB.

Trucks ordered week if 4/12 are already arriving at dealers. If you ordered prior to that you are in a holding pattern of one type or another.
