Question for the forum...is there any difference in overall comfort between the two different Platinum seats? I've noticed there seems to be an additional adjustment near the shoulders on the vehicles with Max Recline.

Thanks!

Yes, with Max Recline there is a upper part of the seat that is adjustable like the headrest. It will pull out to offer more upper back/shoulder support. Watch this video (Max Recline Seat (brightcove.net) from the link in our manual and it shows how that part of the seat automatically adjusts during Max Recline at about 40 seconds. I believe it is 3 clicks and then rebound to flat against the seat.

I know this is an older post but I thought I should reply. I drove several F150‘s at a Ford factory event when the 2021’s were introduced. I was excited about the lay flat seat feature but I noticed that those seats where noticeably less comfortable than the regular seats.

My original focus in the test drive was to attempt to discern the differences between the V8 and the EcoBoost and I wasn’t really paying attention to the seats. The first truck I drove had regular seats. They felt like they should and were comfortable but since the seats were not my focus right then I didn’t give it much thought. When I got in the second truck the seats didn’t feel right and I asked what was the deal with how much less comfortable these seats where than the seats in the first truck. I was told that truck had the lay flat seats. It was disappointing because I was excited about that feature. I went back and forth between the two trucks and went from being really excited about the lay flat seats to determining I would not get them.

The feel may be different from person to person but I will say the differences are significant enough that if you are asking the question you should sit in both before deciding.

Interesting observation. It might be hard to find a dealer right now with both trucks on the lot to test this out:) i’d too go for a more comfy ride over the once in a blue moon max recline option usage.

I have 4000+ miles on Platinum lay-flats. I'm fine with the seats. What I had previously was a Ram Limited 4X4. Those seats were fine after a bit of a break in. I kind of think the Platinum seats are similar. They need some break in. Just like shoes.
