Ordering 24: Opinions on Bed Utility Pkg and Mobile Office Pkg

Greetings!

I'm looking to order a 24 F150 Lariat soon. I'm coming from a 1999 F250 7.3 diesel so light years difference. I've looked at trucks on the lot and many are optioned with the Bed Utility Package and Mobile Office Package so I assume they are both popular.

I took a look at those packages. Regarding the Bed Utility Package, I don't personally get the hype with the Pro Access Tailgate. I think I would prefer the integrated step myself (but that's not an option anyways). The LED box lighting would be nice but everything else doesn't seem that exciting for $1600. Power tailgate just seems completely unnecessary to me

The Mobile Office Package, the 400w outlets would be nice, but I don't think I would care about the work surface.

Part of the issue for me, the truck has so many bells and whistles compared to my 99 F250, perhaps I am not appreciating the value of these things.

My primary use is just getting around town, but I have a travel trailer I tow half a dozen times per year which is the reason for having a truck. That and the occasional Home Depot runs. No real serious work besides towing my trailer.

Any opinions on if I am making a dire mistake skipping over these? Payload is important for my towing needs so I prefer to get the additional payload back as well.

I wasn't looking for a truck with a power tailgate but I got one with it. I can't lie, it's nice to have!

Wait, tailgate step is no longer part of bed utility package? I can only tell you about my experience with my truck. Have bed utility which I love. My previous truck didn't have it and I wasn't a fan. I only have power locking tailgate but it's nice to have. Also, I have the interior work surface on my '23 and I love that too. All the options I ordered on my truck have some portion of each package I don't use but when I add up the parts I do use, it makes for a really impressive truck.

I just got my 24 yesterday and it has the bed utility package with tailgate step(no pro access tailgate). Wonder if that has changed on future builds?

I like the box lighting with the bed utility package, but ultimately could’ve added that afterwards. Definitely like the step. Also think I have mobile office(have work surface) but it’s not listed on the sticker maybe because it’s part of 502a?

Power tailgate may not matter to you but may be nice for the wife or anyone else who might use it here and there.

When I was looking the power tailgate was one of the more useless features IMO. Now that I have it it is one of the best features I have, and I love it.

I have the step tailgate so it is heavier, but I would bet if you get that PAT you will like it a whole lot more than you think you will. Also can probably add an AMP Research step to the back side of the truck if you just want to drop the whole tailgate. More cost but I added one and I have the step so I use that AMP step for quick step ups and the tailgate step for climbing in the bed.
