Order Processing - what does it mean?

Hi All,

I searched through various threads and the stickied post on the order process but couldn’t find a solid answer as to what “order processing” means.

I called Ford Marketing and was given order processing as a status but she couldn’t really tell me what that meant.

Have others here seen that? Does this mean a VIN has been assigned but no progress other than that?

Basically - Ford has the build request and has not sent it to the plant yet. Here's an example of a Vehicle Visibility Report (VVR) that shows that status at different stages before it goes to the plant.

Thanks. So it looks like you can still be in order processing with a build date determined. At what point did you get a vin assigned there?

With only a few exceptions (Focus RS, EcoSport, Transit Connect) VIN numbers are generated at the time that an order is “Submitted to Plant” for scheduling. The initial scheduling information will show an order scheduled for a production week. Afterwards, the information will be updated to show production for a particular date. Along the process, the vehicle order status information will be updated along with the ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) at the dealership.​

So “in order processing - scheduled to week xx” (event is from your screenshot link in the original reply) is what’s being considered “submitted to plant”?

Does Ford Marketing have the ability to see the scheduled to week xx, or just the higher level “in order processing”

From my understanding - Yes. That occurs on Thursdays when material is available to build.

I believe they do - if you search for "Ford Marketing" on the build threads, I believe you will see some posts where a user was told by Ford Marketing what their scheduled week was. (I'm not 100% certain on that.)
