I purchased a OEM sun visor with Homelink (3 button garage door opener). Unfortunately, the visor would not retract tight against the head liner. It was expensive and took several weeks to get it, so I lived with it. I ran across a cheap take off that I bought and swapped with the floppy one. Tada, it retracts as it should, nice and tight against the head liner.
I couldn't just throw the old sun visor away with a perfectly good Homelink module, right? I gingerly harvested the Homelink module figuring someone might be interested in a small project.
The wires are simple, brown with red strip wire is 12v and the brown wire is ground. The button cover snaps on and off at three points. There is about 1/8" or less gap between the button cover and the hideaway main module to allow room to sandwich in a panel or something. I was thinking if it was me, I would mount it in my over head console and grab power up there (small 22 or 24 gauge wire).
Any way, I couldn't see throwing this away. I figure $30 + shipping is fair. Most of the Homelink 3 button kits are much more.
