Hello and thank you for letting me join your group!! I am new to Ford, had many years of owning Dodges. The main reason I choose the F150 is primarily because of the aluminum body, you see, I just retired and wanted to own one last truck so I needed something that will last many, many years and follow me to the grave, hahaha! Where I live the winter salting of the roads kill the bodies of vehicles prematurely! I originally was interested in the 2.7 Ecoboost as it seemed to be reliable with exceptional fuel economy, however, I found a new, non current 2024 F150 XLT, with tow haul package, Fx4 package, electronic 3.55 gears and a few other goodies for $18,000 under retail price 1,800 km from where I live...only catch is it had the 3.5 Ecoboost which I have read isn't near as good in the fuel mileage department as the 2.7. So far I find the hwy mileage quite good! I have heard the towing mileage is pretty poor on the older gen models, hopefully this one doesnt suck the gas when towing like my old Hemi, lol!. Too bad the bluecruise option only came with a 3 month subscription, one would think a safety feature like that would be included for life of the vehicle and not an extra $60 per month.
Oh well, I am extremely happy with this truck thus far and also grateful to be a part of your forums ?

Welcome! Beautiful truck. The 3.5 and the Coyote are the best options for the F150 (IMO). You’ll love the low end torque!

Welcome.... if you stay out of the turbos, my XLT with the 3.5, 3.55 elocker gets 8.5 to 9.5 L/100km crusing at 100km on the highway. Over all, 49 months of ownership I get 13.6L/100km through all seasons.

Thanks Kanuck!! That is impressive fuel economy, I would be very pleased if I got that consistently on average!! What is your 3.5 getting for mileage towing....pretty hard to stay off the turbo's then ?

I don't tow often, maybe once or twice a year. This is my 3rd F 150, 06 5.4 V8, 11 3.5 and 21 3.5.

Depending on trailer weight,
Use tow/haul mode
Heavy trailer - use a WDH, Set correctly.
Lock out 8, 9 & 10 (overdrive gears)

There are many threads on towing on here. I suggest you read a few and get the jest about towing with your truck. Most members will answer any of your questions about towing.

Welcome! Sweet looking new ride you have there. All the best with it.

Two points:

1 - I do not think that Bluecruise would be considered a safety feature and possibly just the opposite. :) Unless you do a lot of long hauling on highways, I would be surprised if you keep it.

2 - I take it you are in Canada. My apologies from the US. Know that many here still look at you as a brother and a friend.

Thank you Kodiak! I have many friends in the US and have enjoyed travelling many parts of the great USA! It is not our fault or the citizens of the US as none of us have anything to do with this stupid tariff thing that has been forced upon us.
As far as the bluecruise, I will definitely not be subscribing to it :)

2022 F150 Powerboost
Welcome to the Ford family from Jacksonville, Florida! I own a 22 Platinum Powerboost (Rapid Red Metallic with the Black Appearance Package). It’s my retirement/forever truck. My first financed vehicle was an 85 F150 XL 4X4 (two toned red and white). Next truck was a 1992 XLT 4X4 (two toned Brown and was such a beautiful truck). Traded it for a 2003 Ford Excursion Eddie Bauer 4X4 with the 7.3 diesel (I’ll never get rid of this beauty) it is such a strong truck!
Wife said Happy Retirement Honey! and let me get the Powerboost. I’ve never in my life had a more powerful or beautiful truck. The interior options are just out of this world. It rides soooo nice! I hope you have an amazing time with your truck! It’s always such a fun time when you get a new ride. I’ll be visiting Canada soon!

Have had my F-150 for just a few days but that has been long enough to not like the Blue Cruise option so that will definitely not be renewed. Around here, lane changes are necessary and it does not like me doing that. I also camp in some places that have very weak or no cellular coverage so I assume that would kill that functionality.

Congratulation on your retirement and your coming over from the dark side. Beautiful truck and hopefully you will get all out of it you want. Personally, I think the only thing the Hemi is superior in is the exhaust sound. It's a good engine but all you get is smiles per mile vs. miles per gallon.

I too bought my first F-150, a Platinum, as a retirement gift to myself back in 2012 and also thought it would be my last. 12 years later the itch just got the best of me, and I bought a 2024 King Ranch. I had and have the 3.5 EcoBoost in both, I was pleased with the 1st generation, but I do like the new 3rd generation better. I have been averaging 15 mpg vs. 10 to 12 around town and got 21 mpg with a loaded down truck on our last vacation. But when you need the power, they will not displease you.

As for Blue Cruise, who needs it! I'm old school and was too paranoid when I used it the couple of times I tried it. It was more stressful worrying about what the truck would do in heavy traffic than actually driving it. I enjoy driving so it did nothing for me.

Anyway, welcome and enjoy your new truck!

Welcome! Nice rig. Agree on the Bluecruise being the opposite of a safety feature. It's a gimmick, in my opinion.

I had a first gen 3.5 Ecoboost I towed a lot with. The gas mileage sucks because you're on boost all the time. No way around it. Great engine, tho.

And I won't apologize for anything happening between the US and Canada ?. None of us have anything to do with it but both hold some blame. We all neex to move on as individuals and be friendly grown ups about it. We're here for the trucks, after all.

Ya I guess I should educate myself with bluecuise as i am not exact sure what function it does, lol. Thought it controlled the lane assist where it keeps you between the line, I could be wrong about that. Either way, I won't be paying for whatever it does, hahaha?

I agree 100%, we have no control on what happens in this world, just have to be the best neighbors we can...like we have been for centuries! Thanks for your reply ?
