I'm new on this Gen 14 forum, but not new to F150 forums. I've owned 5 other Ford pickup trucks, starting with a '66 F-100 stepside farm truck I bought around 1983. I am a 72 year old baby boomer, came of age during the muscle car wars of the mid 60s to early 70s, so I am partial to muscle cars and V8s. I recently bought the 2023 Platinum FX4, a CPO with low miles. Two days after delivery, the driver side power running board failed and the Pro Power system detected a fault that re-ocurred after system reset. Parts had to be ordered and all should be fixed soon. The dealer gave me a 2025 Lariat FX4 PowerBoost as a loaner. All I can say is WOW! The power that hybrid combo with twin turbo V6 delivers is amazing. And fuel economy around town for over 250 miles is about 19 mpg. I'm not a fan of the constant cycling between EV and V6 (same reason I don't like auto start/stop) but I can see why this is a popular option. Speaking of auto start/stop, my '23 window sticker indicates it was a special order. One item is AUTO START-STOP REMOVAL - 50.00. I had no idea that could be deleted. Also removed - Active Park Assist, Multi-Contour Seat, and Steering Wheel - Heat. Maybe a 1 of 1 set of options?
I am enjoying this forum and have already picked up a lot of good info on the Gen 14 F150s.

I'm 4K into a new 2025 PB Lariat. My other car is a 2016 F-150 Lariat with 260K which we still have and like a lot. Very happy with the 25. No problems so far. Getting 22.9 mpg on mostly rural highway and interstate. I also don't like the jerky switching between EV and ICB. But living in the country I only experience this in parking lots or the little bit of time I'm crawling through a town.

Welcome to the forum. I just bought my 2025 Powerboost April of this year. Still getting used to it. The constant cycling of hybrid system does take some time to get used to, and sometimes is obnoxious to me. However, I do get very good MPG, and that’s with a leveling kit and 35” tires installed!

A few things to know about the PB over the non-hybrid version. The removal of the auto S/S is applied to all PB models as the module used on standard ICE only powered F150's is removed. Instead the hybrid system employs it's own system during both surface street and stopping situations. If you choose to not allow the hybrid system from shutting the ICE down during driving you can switch the drive mode to Tow which will keep the ICE running while in that mode. The downside to this is loosing the additional MPG gained on surface streets by allowing the truck to switch between EV and ICE modes at speeds under 50-55mph and when braking. Other options removal is likely going to be due to parts availability but many can be added back in with OEM parts or aftermarket OEM kits like those provided by @Jesse-Infotainment at https://infotainment.com/. Other items unique to the PB platform is the 7.2KW inverter which can be invaluable to you for providing both emergency backup power on an amazingly efficient manner, but also off-grid power to RV's or camping etc.

Last thing is power delivery. The EV motor provides the much needed additional low end torque both right off idle to get the truck off the line much faster and at speed which all but eliminates the turbo lag common with both the 2.7 and 3.5 EB engines as well. This greatly improved power delivery makes for IMO a much more pleasurable driving experience over both the 3.5 EB and 5.0 Coyote engines while easily reaching 25-30mpg if driven properly. All in all the Powerboost is an amazing platform and has earned a special place with the vast majority of its owners.

Great write up. Completely agree!
