I brought my 2022 XLT to Gwinnett Place Ford for Recall 23S65 (rear wheel end hub bolts). Service advisor took my appointment reservation, last Thursday, and mentioned an inspection would be performed ahead of the work. I have not any symptoms of the failing hub bolts previously, and was wanting to be proactive BEFORE experiencing any issues.

Today, at the dealership, I was informed by the service department that they would NOT perform the recall work UNLESS I was already experiencing the issue and could be verified by a physical inspection!?!?

Was curious if anyone else on this forum has attempted to get this recall performed at this dealership on a proactive basis?

Almost had this issue at my dealership in southeast Virginia. Had truck in early last month for flickering LED lamp and to confirm axle bolt recall eligibility. LED update completed and was told axles were ordered by using my VIN and I would be called when axles were in. Two weeks later I call to see if axles were received yet and get the run around of "Are you hearing noises coming from the back axle". I told them my axles are fine but they will be replaced because: 1) New improved axle is available, designed by engineers and not the guys in accounting. 2) It is a federally mandated recall, not at the dealership's discretion of if the recall gets performed. Too many service advisors out there with a God complex.

I guess my understanding of recalls is not what I thought it should be. Maybe all recalls are not created equal... LOL

So yes, what you experience is pretty common, most dealerships are doing that as well. The axle assemblies are somewhat limited right now.

A friend took his in to a dealer in Indianapolis. Basically had the same experience as you. Kind of funny the next day, one of his bolts snapped.

A socket, a breaker bar and a 3 foot pipe and you would probably have broken bolt
as well

Try Jim Ellis or Hennessy. Stay away from Billy Howell or ALM (Formerly Autonation). Can't speak for Krause as I've never had work done there.

I haven’t had a great experience at Ford dealerships in the Atlanta area and it really turns me off from the brand. Good luck

An update to my original post. I called Loganville Ford (I live in Gwinnett County) and they had me come in to take photos of my vehicle to document my truck's eligibility (?) for the recall last Thursday (6/5). Said they do not carry the parts and order them as needed. Received call yesterday that parts are in and I scheduled the recall work for next Monday.

This is more what I expected when Initially reached out to Gwinnett Place Ford originally.

I guess I have a new dealership to take my business to now!
