LOL at running an E tire at max 80 PSI on a half ton and then claiming they ride fine.

My .02 cents , I researched for the last 6 months and was on the fence for a while. Admittedly I have never ran E tires myself but trust everything I've read from all on here and many other sites./

I just went with Nitto Terra Grappler G3 in 275/65r20 SL / P
Got these 2-1/2 weeks ago.
Impressed with these so far , glad I didn't go with E. I've only got around 2000 miles so far but with the lower weight vs E , and extra siping that the G2's did not have , been great in the rain.
Feels much more stable than the stock Hankooks.
I was wanting 35's in Ridge Grappler but as others have said you don't need on a 1/2 ton , unless you're towing heavy and even then you've probably got a 250 already.
And I'll say the G3 's have an aggressive enough sidewall and tread pattern-they look better than expected once mounted.
No regrets here

Any pics of the truck with them mounted up? Considering Ridge, Recon or Terra Grapplers myself in the same size.

I thought the stock Hankooks SL rode really badly as they felt like undamped ballons just bouncing down the road. Swaying to and fro... I can say positively that I prefer the sure-footed handling feel of the tire set up that I have now.

Yes, E-rated tires have a firmer ride but it's nothing like a dump truck and in fact I've never owned a vehicle that rides as well as my F150 Limited on E rated tires. I do tow an RV a bit (about 450 miles 3 weeks ago) so that's also a factor. Additionally, the size tires I like, aren't available in an SL rating from anyone.

I will tell you that the E rated Falkens AT4s I'm running are wearing crazy well. I've only lost between 1/32nds - 2/32nds in over 35K miles according to Discount Tire during a recent rotation, which is crazy low wear! These are the best heavy duty truck tires I've ever bought.

That said, if someone offered an SL AT tire in the size that I use (limited options in a 22" wheel) I would in fact buy them because I like to optimize mpg and acceleration and there is absolutely a difference when you are slapping on an extra 120#s of rotating weight. For a butt dyno comparison, I feel like I gained about 80-100 rwhp when I added my Livernois gas tune, and adding the large E rated tires felt like the tune had been taken off! I now have an E85 tune and the truck feels really light on it's feet again, but would undoubtedly feel much faster with some stock sized SL tires on 18" rims.

I was running my E-rated tires at 35 psi and at the recommendation of Discount Tire during a recent rotation they bumped it to 50 psi, and honeslty I could barely tell any difference, but mpg was a bit improved.

On my truck I upgraded the factory tires to Nitto E tires rated at 3750@80 PSI and I was carrying a 3700 lb load in the bed. I had to buy an air compressor to get the tires up to 80 PSI as the gas stations could barely provide 50 PSI.

No benefit to E-rated tires for a pickup that has a payload capacity of less than 2,000 lbs and you will pay more for the tires and they will reduce fuel economy as more weight to spin.

I currently have Goodyear Wrangler TrailRunner tires on my truck and they are as good as it gets for a 1/2 ton pickup. Excellent traction on wet roads and snow and dirt and are warrantied for 55K miles.
