Just curious if anyone has done the line-x with metal flake and it you think it's worth the cost to add it? I have a rapid red 22 sport lariat I'm taking in tomorrow.

Yes if anyone has pictures please share here is a YouTube video I found of the red metal flake. It seems subtle.

I know you can get color matched too, but I think I prefer the black with the rapid red. I was thinking maybe red or silver flake in the premium top coat

Maybe if this were a show truck or something along those lines.
LineX is great, the standard black is the way to go. My Local LineX said any of the upgraded additives aren't worth it.

I LineX every truck I've ever had.

So just an update. I was going to ask about maybe black or silver metal flake but talked to the guy about taking the tailgate off to spray down below the bed (between the bed and bumper) and completely forgot to ask about the metal flake! Lol So no metal flake to me.

I was surprised how he told me that the "premium" was not as wear resistant. It still has line-x under it but he said of you constantly move things like concrete blocks it will wear through the topcoat.

I don't use my truck like that much and last time I put a bedrug* in so not gonna affect me. It just struck me off.

*Bedrug was the one that only covers the floor and tailgate, not the whole bed and sides. Wasn't sure if I would do it again. I left the old one in the old truck when I traded it in. I might do it again just in case otherwise he said just put down cardboard or something first.

I love that color matched LineX. If I wasn't looking at getting a Diamondback for my truck I would get that for the Atlas Blue I have coming.

So final update. I think they did a great job. Again, I did NOT get the metal flake.

While I know that some Line-X installers will take the tailgate off and paint down the vertical space outside the bed down to the bumper, that was not something my installer did normally. He agreed to do it, but added an hour of labor for his time (which I was OK with). This is the results:

hit enter too soon.,

In this one you can see that you don't see the body color anymore between the bumper and the tailgate. it's now "black"

and here you can between the bed and tailtgate. the only part he didn't do on the tailgate was the seam, which I was OK with because it would be a masking nightmare

Having that little strip under the tailgate done was good call. The red and black theme looks outstanding. Good luck with it.

Thanks! Now I just need to decide if it's worth the cost to get the tremor tail lights and headlights (I have to see if the BAP has them as well). I really don't like the silver/chrome on the taillights. It looks white most the time.

Granted I didn't hate it enough to not get the truck when I found it....lol

Any issues after with having the Tailgate removed? Was previously noted that people had issue with ………..camera view if I remember correctly.
