On Thursday I went to a local specialty meat market to pick up meat for dinner. When I approached my '21 King Ranch Powerboost I touched the door handle and the door would not unlock as it should. I tried the remote and nothing. I entered my code got in and attempted to start the truck and I got "No key detected". I tried several times to no avail. I finally dropped the fob in the slot under the drink holder and all was good. When I got home I tried all again and everything worked just fine. So today I went back to the same market, and actually ended up in the same parking spot, and had the same issue. So I repeated the steps I had last time and drove home to test again. No issue at home. I then grabbed my second fob, went outside and tested, no issue. I left the first fob home and returned to the meat market with my second fob to test (it's close to my home). Sure enough, I experienced the exact same issue with that fob. Returned home and all functions perfectly. Could there be some sort of electrical interference at that location? If so, who knows where we could encounter that these days.

Unfortunately, electromagnetic interference is a fact of life and anything wireless can succumb to it.

Update, my neighbor just went to the same market and had the same issue. Absolutely has to be RF interference.

I had this happen once when I was at a drive up instant teller. Truck would not come out of park even tho it was running and would show "NO KEY DETECTED". This error would flash off and on. I shut the truck off and restarted it. Told the dealer and they said I was the 3rd person asking about it and all were at the same instant teller. One case, the salesman went and got the persons truck going, and then his would not start. Was told if this happens, put the key into the programing slot.

I put this out on FB and have determined that 5 people I know have had the exact same issue at that store. And not all are Ford owners, so this explains the obvious interference.

If I have the FOB and my phone in the same pocket it won't unlock the doors with a touch of the door handle. Separate pockets and everything works fine. It doesn't take much to interfere with the signal.

Happens all the time at my work parking garage. I think it’s the long range badge readers. The garage also has sensors to detect our toll tags that open the gate which I guess could also be the source of interference. It is really annoying to have to manually enter the code everyday.

Hey there! Could you send us a private message with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd like to look into this error concern. Thanks!
