I'm doing a major overhaul on my interior to include:
  1. Katzkin perforated seat covers
  2. Katzkin Heated/Ventilated Degreez units for the front seats
  3. heated wheel
  4. Digital temperature HVAC unit with the heated/ventilated seat buttons
Does anyone know if the Katzkin Degreez units can be wired to work with the OEM heated/ventilated buttons on the HVAC unit? Right now those buttons would be dead as my truck is an STX and didn't come with heated/ventilated seats. If possible I'd like to avoid having two heated and ventilated buttons.

Thanks!

I’m not sure, but I love learning about this technical stuff. Subbed!

i thought katzkin had a solution as in puttign the heat cold or hot switches at the seat side?
i looked at doing ventialted seats for my wifes edge and that was the fix, since she has heat,

I think he wants to be able to integrate it into the HVAC module itself and not have redundant switches

The units come with switches, but like Dolsen said above, I'd like to avoid using those if I can get the degreez units to work with the OEM buttons.

I'm guessing that you might be stunned at how many modules participate in something as innocuous as a button in one of these trucks.

"innocuous"
we have a winner for word of the day (y) (y) (y) (y) (y)

best analogy i have heard so far
we find through forscan..it seems like many modules want their due and play a small role in the changes we make. its almost like a congress of modules..:love:

There's an argument to be made that the architecture that Ford (and others) uses to distribute 47 modules throughout the vehicle, and the vast amount of harnesses and connectors required to support that method of distribution, is LEGACY thinking.

Folks like Munroe Engineering, which are admittedly both Tesla and EV biased, will make a case for centralizing most of those little black boxes (modules) and package them in an appropriate "rack" or enclosure. You would still have wiring going everywhere, but it would be less messy?

Anyways, I can see that it would be cool to leverage the native HVAC controls to control an aftermarket heated/cooled seat. But I don't think that native button is an on/off switch. And I wouldn't be surprised if you had to interface the aftermarket seat elements with the oem drivers side seat module. And that module would have to have the necessary AsBuilt data that a factory heated/cooled seat would.

Not saying undoable!
But I am saying it's probably much more than the button in the HVAC module.

You would probably be better served to try and remove the button from the HVAC panel, hideout inside the console, and put another button its it's place that connects to the Katskinz units. Saying that, I've never taken one apart, so I'm not sure if it is a set of buttons or a whole PCD that sits back there.

If it is a PCB, LaserSterling did a video on hijacking Lamborghini switches, so you might be able to take some cues from him:
