I ran a K&N with a performance tube by Air Raid for 14 years in a Ram Hemi. My belief is the amount of air is regulated by the computer so the type of filter does not matter. Add to that why increase flow in without dueling the exhaust for the flow out? My single cab 5.0 runs like crazy in Sport mode so I will leave it all as is.,

I am by no means a mechanic, however I wanted to share my results with these filters.
I have an older 07 explorer and quite a few years ago I put a K&N filter in it and soon after started having weird idle issues. My mechanic said it was probably some of the moisture from the filter getting on my sensors. This was 10+years ago and I still have the issue today. Never really caused me any problems however it is embarrassing when the idle revs up and down.
