how does the ordering process work?!

Once i place my deposit and order with my local Ford dealership, what and when should be the things i hear from the dealership or Ford themselves?!

I never did hear from the dealership, I had to call or email them if I had a question. I had a VIN in about a week after ordering. (it'll vary when you get the VIN). At that point you can just track it online from Ford's site.

You're supposed to get an email confirmation from Ford for your order, but it doesn't always happen for a variety of reasons. I originally ordered a 21, but never received an email when my order was submitted. When my order was converted to a 22, I asked my dealer about this and he said that it wouldn't let him input my email at first. Took him a few tries but it finally accepted my email and then I immediately received a confirmation email from Ford. Yet others have checked and their email is correct and they still never received the confirmation email.

This email is kind of useless though. It's nice to have confirmation your order was submitted correctly but you still can't track your order yet with it, it doesn't link to your online Ford account (if you have one), etc. It says it will send another notification email as your order status progresses, but I have had my VIN and scheduled build week for over a week and still have no second email from Ford to reflect this. The only reason I know my VIN and build week is because I bugged my dealer to check for me when 22s started getting scheduled.

AND the tracker doesn't even work for my order. So despite now having a VIN, I still have to bug my dealer instead of being able to track it myself.

So basically, expect nothing but bugging your dealer every 2-3 weeks about a status update. Expect to do this for the next 3-6 months. I got lucky and got my VIN within a month. But others can take a very long time to get a VIN and scheduling. It depends on what you've ordered, your priority code, dealer allocation, etc.

damn, my sales guy told me that Ford will be emailing me directly once any updates arise. He also told me 8-12 weeks for delivery of the truck when i first sat down with him. I hope he’s not full of it..

FWIW I ordered 7/26 have yet to get an email from Ford. I have not seen anyone get a truck in 8 weeks since I started tracking, 12 on occasion but more like 16+

my dealer told me 6-10 weeks too because of Covid.
