Reverse in 4L is the shortest gearing and thus the most torque that the 10R80 can make. It's basically a stress test on the whole drive train. I would go so far as to say that we should all probably put our trucks into 4L and reverse before the powertrain warranty expires in order to have at least a hope that we got one of the good front pumpkins.
Noticed 4L puts you automatically in 2nd gear unless, you select Snow mode.

I’ve pulled a few trees like this, 4L in reverse. Will probably stick to 4H when in reverse from now on. ?

Only if you want to visit the dealer and lose your truck for however long it takes for them to repair it...
True! That's a big price to pay. I was only thinking I'd rather find out before being in the boondocks.
Plus, isn't that under our drive chain warranty?

Other posts said they were in 4H not 4L.

I still consider this a very rare issue even though you can find a dozen posts over last few years on an online search.
