I purchased the Generac 6854. Can someone give me the basics on what to ask my license certified Electrician? Lots of conversation I just want to be able to say please do this to Code.

It’s pretty self explanatory. Any good electrician will read the instructions first. You should have an idea as to which circuits you want to back up. Furnace, any outlets for medical needs, things like this. Also the location of the inlet to plug the Powerboost into

Pick the circuits you want to move over and see what amp rating they are. 15's and 20's. See that the ones provided match up. For example you want to move 5 @ 15 and 3 @ 20 but the Generac only came with 2 @ 20. Then you may want to go to Lowes and get an extra or 2. The Generac uses Siemans circuit breakers. Maybe the electrician carries them with him, but that is up to you.

If the wire whip from the Generac is long enough then that is great. However if you have to have a junction box then make sure none of the bare ground wires touch the main one. Typically they will just be stuffed in the box but if one touches the main grounds, the truck will not like that and shut down. The point of the Generac Transfer Switch is that it automatically isolates the main ground system from the trucks. Best to have the electrician just wrap that main ground from the truck so there is nothing bare or touching.

Keep in mind that I am a novice with no real electrical skills but this is what I learned from my experience doing the same thing. Plugging the truck into the house when the power goes out is an easy dream and I will do it at the drop of a hat. Dragging out the generator and gas was a choir I never wanted to do but this PB now make this task, cake.
