In the above video they only detach the main bumper harness, remove the six nuts on the frame, and take the bumper off.

Every other install video that I've seen has you remove the grill and trim above the bumper.

This video for example has the more complex process:

So which one is accurate? Can you skip removing the grill and just unbolt the bumper and slip it off?

Kind of. I've taken my bumper off 3 or 4 times and always removed the grill. The front valance that sits right above the bumper is pretty tight against it and can make it challenging to remove the bumper without taking it off (you can see them getting hung up on it in the video). Having two people and a lift makes that method easier. If you're just doing it in your driveway by yourself, taking the grille of takes longer, but is much easier in the long run.

Removing the grille makes it much easier to handle it as you can access the bumper's nuts from the grille area quite easily. The PBs need the grille removed as the pedestrian speaker is in the way. Doesn't really apply to you here.

I ended up loosening the trim piece above the bumper, and then removing the bumper. I tried removing it but it absolutely did not want to budge. I have a 2024, so I was slightly worried the face lift might have a different order of operations or hidden bolts.

I have a '24 XLT and recently removed the grill and lower trim piece...... that trim piece removal is not for the faint of heart. LOTS of plastic clips to possibly break

Hey man, you have any information on removing the bumper? I'm about to put a ranch hand bumper and grill guard but there is very little information out there on removing the bumper

What tools did you use... Flat ratcheting wrenches? 15mm/18mm?

If it's like the 1-3s, you should be able to access the bumper bolts from the bottom of the truck. I'd taken my airdam off first.

Only the PBs have to come in from the top for one of them because of the pedestrian speaker is blocking access.

On my 2019 platinum you did not have to remove the grill. Remove the two plastic covers down low and loosen 4 nuts. From the backside of this same area, loosen 2 nuts. 3 nuts each side. All these nuts are within 5 inches of each other. I recommend removing the two from the back first. Bumper comes right off but you need two people so it doesn’t fall and damage wiring. 6 bolts, 3 wired plugs.

Also, On the PowerBoosts, Going this way means you dont have to remove the intercooler to get to the bumper bolts.
