Hi there,

Ever since I replaced my rear harness to get camera and TPMS connections for my trailer, my two outside park aid sensors have been only picking up objects at a very short distance. The sensors are already "orange" by the time they activate.

I was crashed into and the repair facility had to replace my bed, so I asked them to install the new harness to facilitate the 12 pin trailer connection needed for trailer cam and TPMS. When they first installed it, I told them to connect to the innermost 4 connectors on my harness since there are 6 on the new harness (it's a super duty harness) and I only have 4 sensors. They made a mistake and connected the outside two and got a park aid system error. When I reiterated to connect to the inner connectors, they reset the DTC and the issue went away.

All that said, the lack of sensitivity arose after the repair so I'm wondering if the sensors are not reading distances correctly. Perhaps they reset things with an obstacle in the way?

Anywhoo, I read that I can monitor the PID's for the sensors with Forscan and ensure that the reported distances with no obstructions are correct, and/or I can perform some sort of "PAM self test".

I've trolled though all the PID's and modules I can find and there's no mention of park sensors anywhere!

Could someone direct me to where I can look on the table view to get a readout of what my sensors are "seeing"?

The PAM is supposed to live in the BCM I think, but I see no references to parking sensors.

What I'm hoping to do is some sort of module reset or otherwise see if they are reporting differently than my 2 correctly working sensors.

Thanks!

Thanks! This is actually what led me to ask here as they never describe how to perform the “PAM self test”. I can’t even find the PAM in the module list.
I was hoping to use the PIDs to see if I could get the distance in millimeters they mention. I searched in “all” for the PIDs they mention but none come up!

My sensors all work, though 2 very poorly, so I don’t have any DTCs.

The parking aid system is disabled if a fault is detected in a parking aid sensor, the communications network or the PAM. This is indicated by a parking aid disabled warning message in the IPC message center.

Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform a PAM self-test.

Make sure the area around the vehicle is clear of anything that can activate the parking aid sensor. Using a diagnostic scan tool, monitor the following PAM parking aid sensor PIDs: LRI_DIST, LRO_DIST, RRI_DIST, and RRO_DIST. The PID reads 5,540 mm (100 in) on a correctly functioning sensor.

Most other suggested testing is dependent on the results of the PAM self-test and the resulting DTCs if present.

Did you work this out? I had added front parking sensors and I know from ford software one sensor wasnt working. Wanted to try and pull the values to determine which one

I spoke to the dealer and he ended up showing me a sheet from the manual that had all the parking sensor distances. Turns out the outer rear sensor range in only like 60cm or something whereas the middle ones are 120cm. So I was basically wrong in thinking it was a problem that some sensors triggered further away than others. I never figured out the PID or if there even is one, sorry!
