A couple months back, I bought some rear splash guards from Ford for a 2023 F150.

When I went to install them, I found the package was missing some parts, specifically, Item J in the attached instructions. Ford isn't willing to give just those to me or exchange my order because I went too long before notifying them.

That all said, does anybody know what Item J is? My best guess may be a shim of some sort. If so, I have something that may work. Any help is appreciated.

Use a piece of thin plastic. I didn't use the shim they provided.

I installed a set of those not long ago and had only one in the package. They are pretty useless, just a very thin piece of plastic that does nothing as far as I can tell. They are not worth worrying about, Put your mud flaps on and it will be fine. I left the one I received off with zero issues. The sealed plastic bag that mine came in also had a long zip tie, for who knows what.

It's supposed to be used as an insulator between two different metals. Steel and aluminum don't play well together.

This is the correct answer. A piece of Gorilla Tape worked for me.

Thanks everybody. It's good to know those pieces aren't a big deal.

I'm going to try the shims I have or maybe something else and see what happens.

I just installed these last week. As others have said it is a thin piece of plastic with a sticky back. There is a peel off plastic over the glue or sticky side. The instructions are terrible. You are supposed to stick it to the fender lip over the hole for the bolt and in front of the hole where the brace sits on the inner lip, to help avoid corrosion because of dissimilar metals.
