Hi all,

So I managed to trade out my 21 Ecoboost yesterday for a Powerboost (made a good enough deal with dealer that it was worth it to me).

But my Ecoboost would turn on all the lights when I got near it with the keys. The Powerboost doesn't. I do have the approach lighting turned on in sync but the graphics it shows almost seems like it only turns on when you hit the key fob.

Both trucks are 302A packages. Am I mistaken on the Ecoboost doing this? Or should the Powerboost do this as well?

Very confused (like normal).

My 302A PB has approach lighting. I wonder if something's up with the fob?
Hadn't thought to try that yet. Will give the spare one a shot tomorrow.

@wayfarer556 Ok I couldn't wait and thank you for the suggestion. It was in a way the key fobs but not quite the way I expected.

I grabbed my wife's fob and went out and when I approached the truck the lights kicked on. When I put her fob by my set at the front door and walked back out with my fob... the lights kicked on.

We have a single driveway so I normally park out to the edge of the street as I have been the only one going into work. My wife is a school teacher and has spent the last year on remote learning. Since she is heading back into the classroom and she needs to head out in the morning before I have to leave in the morning we've swapped car positions so she is now closer to the street and I am right beside the kitchen wall.

Where my wife leaves her backpack with her keys is right on the kitchen table and I think it was just confusing the truck as it knew that a fob was nearby (and most likely triggered the lights when she came home but I hadn't noticed). When I moved her backpack away from the kitchen table my fob works just fine. When I moved her backpack back to the kitchen table the approach lighting kicked right in.

We've just never noticed this in the 6 months that I had the Ecoboost as I was always parked too far away to trigger the truck. :)

Thank you again for the fob suggestion. Now to buy her a RFID pouch for her backpack.

Glad I could save you 7 days of your truck in a Ford dealer :p

Congrats on the Powerboost, loving mine so far. Curious as to why you decided to trade in the 21 EB? I was originally leaning toward the 3.5 EB or 5.0. Decided to go with the Powerboost at the last minute. Partly because of the extra power/torque and partly just because selection was limited and I wanted the FX4 package and liked the Antimatter blue better than the other colors available.

To be honest I wanted the Powerboost back in February when I bought the 1st truck. Back then though I couldn't find any PB within 300 miles of my home. The EB had everything that my 2012 had and the price was too good to pass up then and it was on the dealer lot.

My son managed to smash the EB into a parking garage bollard (https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/19-year-old-and-a-parking-garage-bollard-8k-in-damages.4190/) causing about $8600 in damage.

When the dealer called to see if I was still interested in a PB as they had one that mostly matched the EB I bought (Lost the Max tow but I'm never going to tow that heavy anyway) and they were still able to make the payments line up fairly close to what I had with a now repaired EB it was worth the swap over for me to get the PB that I originally wanted and to get rid of a truck that had already had some extensive repairs done to it.

If my son hadn't damaged the truck I might have just told the dealer no thanks, but a week or so in and I'm loving the new truck .

Cool, the accident is unfortunate, but at least you ended up with what you wanted. Limited selection made things a bit different for all of us that bought this year I'm sure.

My Dealer had maybe 8-10, 2021 models on the lot, but once I factored in my preferences and price range, there were really only 2 trucks to choose from.
