That is interesting, I've never heard that before, and now I'm curious. This trailer was borrowed, but I may look for a wider one to purchase. In the past, I've seen aerodynamic evaluations that have shown that the v-nose trailers may be some of the least aerodynamic ones available, which flies against intuition. I don't remember the details, bu I recall that it has something to do with how rotating air bubbles build up in front of the flat faces of trailers, which allows most of the flowing air to hit that bubble and ride up and over the roof. As I recall, v-nose trailers ruin that bubble, so the trailer is cutting through the full air current the whole time.
As far as speeds, this was a "hammer-down" trip, so everyone is correct, I was doing 70-75mph pretty much the entire trip. I finally remembered that the mileage would improve by locking out 9th and 10th gears, and then finally recalled how to do that. Then if I wanted to play with things, I watched the boost and when hitting a hill and it started to climb I would lock out 8th as well. My playing seemed to indicate that the tradeoff between boost and RPM equaled out around 3k rpm. Said another way, going uphill with boost coming on, if locking out a gear resulted in 3k rpm or more, there wasn't any gain in instant mileage.
