Fender clearance and Offset/Tire Sizes

Hey guys

I have my 3.5L HDPP 4x4 6.5ft bed in transit to the dealership, and im shopping wheels and tires.

Already have a set of Bilstein 6112/5160, RAS and Airdesigd Fender flares here, ready to go. Also have a set of SPC Adjustable Forged Upper Control Arms 25685 from Stage3, that I may or may not use

I'm want to get a set of 18in wheels with 0 offset, with most likely 285/65r18 Baja Boss ATs, I want to stay around 33inch, but may go to a 34/35inch tire.

I realize I may have to trim some in the front, depending on tire selection

My question is about going off road, and flexing the front/rear to the max, is there any concern about tires impacting the fenders front or back?

I have a 2022 F150 Platinum with 18x9 Rebels wheels and +20 offset. No issues at all, no trimming, no rubbing. I recently changed to 18x9 Vapor wheels with -13 offset, some rubbing and trimming had to be done, but definitely like the aggressive look much better with the negative offsets. 295/70/18 Nitto Recons too

You can look up the tire dimensions in terms of diameter and width and then compare it to the stock tires. A 1 inch gain in tire height only adds 1/2 inch to the radius and is more any increase in tire width that is likely to result in the tire rubbing.

Gaining 1/2 inch to go off road accomplishes nothing. I would focus more on the profile of the tire and the tuffness of its sidewalls. The tire companies have been using the gimmick of "XX ply rated" and so a 10 ply rated tire may only have 6 plies and will be much more vulnerable to rock damage to the sidewalls of the tires.

My concern was putting a 35in tire on, with additional offset, so it pokes ~ 1inch outside the fender. Is there any chance the tire and fender come in contact when the suspension flexes all the way?

With factory offset, the tire is inside the fender lip, so it will clear it fine...

Lots of info on the forum about this subject, but if you want a 35" with an offset wheel you can always go with a 35 x 11.5 instead of the more popular 35 x 12.5. Thats what I did with a 2.5" level and there is LOTS of clearance. Didn't even have to trim the valance and the crash bars are over and 1" from the tire throughout the suspension travel at full turns
