FDRS GWM Update questions.

Key on engine on. I have started the update. It tells me to restart. I turn truck off and I open door. Wait 10 minutes. Key on engine on and within a minute it pops up saying restart required again. I wait about 5 minutes then turn truck off and wait another 10 minutes. Key on engine on and wait… nothing happens. CLICK YES on update and FDRS checks and verified that it is not updated.

Also. It never tells me to disconnect USB

I struggled with this today for 3+ hours. Ended up doing the update via USB, then turn car off for 15 min. Turned on, still had "restart needed..." but instead I pressed in FDRS "Yes" that update is complete and then removed USB. Then I got the "Update complete" on Sync. So I went againts instructions and removed before message, but update went through. Alternative is a long CAN update.

So you pressed yes on FDRS and while it was on you removed USB? Going to try to recreate this.

Started update from FDRS, inserted USB in truck, waited for update to start, got message to power off, powered off for 10+ mins, turned on, after a couple mins same message that restart is needed appeared, clicked "Yes" in FDRS that update is complete, removed USB from truck, then the update complete appeared.

Also make sure the battery maintainer is connected. My truck was struggling around 12.2-12.3 all day with a 10A NOCO... go figure. I would just do the CAN route if I had a place to leave the truck for long time.

The USB seems to be stuck on a “restart vehicle to continue update”

Try waiting longer than 10 min. Go 15-20, take the keys with you and shut the door. Don't walk back to the truck if you have the keys until after 15 min either.
