FDRS across model years

I know FDRS is the magic to update the newer trucks yourself, but can it also be used for older model years, such as a 2016 Lariat? I would rather not have to pay for 2 different licenses for different years.

Only to program the APIM IDS is for everything else involved with 2016. That said you should be able to use IDS with the fdrs license. They share the license.

I have one license and it works between them.

You can update sync with the fdrs I saw on any ford.

FDRS is for models on attached. IDS for older vehicles
