Hey Guys,
I ordered a Platinum over the weekend and the dealer is telling me 6 weeks to receive my VIN and 3 months until delivery. Now I can understand a salesman giving you BS trying to make a sale but this was after the purchase. What is everyone else being told? I’m also curious if it has anything to do with living in Louisville, KY. Where there are two large Ford plants (non F 150 locations) and a large CSX rail yard in Louisville. I’m mentally preparing myself for 6-7 months but it sure would be nice to have during the summer months

Whatever they tell you other that "I don't know" is complete BS.

NOBODY KNOWS!

Every time my new washing machine alerts my Smart Phone that my laundry is done... I can't help but wonder if those chips should be in my new F150, not my damn washing machine!

Someone at Ford's procurement REALLY screwed the pooch. Likely a committee.

I think that “no idea” really is the only accurate answer. Some on this forum have gotten theirs within 2 months of ordering, others are 7+ months and still waiting with no end in sight. There doesn’t seem to be a good way to gauge at this point. Hopefully things will normalize soon and things will become more predictable again.

Good luck!

I was told that as well when I ordered mine. I was a bit concerned that there could be changes that I may not like (highly unlikely) but you never know. I guess getting a 2022 makes it almost worth the wait. Doesn’t Ford normally switch production in August for the upcoming year?

They can process a 2022 Order now?

That’s what I’m being told from my dealership in Louisville, KY. I’m guessing Ford realizes that by the time they actually start the build it will be past the 2021 cutoff.

I'm half tempted to go order a 2022 from another dealer just to see which one get's here 1st!

Not a bad idea. I’m told the $500 good faith deposit is fully refundable if you decide to back out or in this case the other truck happens to arrive sooner. I didn’t see that in writing but the dealer said it was fully refundable and they would just sell the vehicle to someone else.

My dealer didn't require ANY "deposit".

They know damn well that they will have people lined up out the door to buy the gem I built. Likely willing to pay over invoice!

I think I WILL go to another dealer tomorrow and order a 2022 just to see what happens.

At this point, I have nothing to lose...

Even if they both showed up at the same time I could probably sell one for more than I paid for it the way things are going!

They didn't open 22 orders yet, that's only for the super duty models. There's been no announcement of the 21 MY orders closing and 22 starting for the 150 yet.

Also, if you think the chip problem is only hitting Ford, you need to read more news. It's affected EVERY auto manufacturer, even Toyota (though too a much lesser extent) and pretty much every other industry.
