Hey all, recently had my 150 in to get a door ding repaired. Damage cracked the paint so they fixed the dent, and completely repainted and clear coat the door.

Ever since, that panel gets significantly more dust on it. My question is is it because of missing protective coat that the rest of the pickup has, or is there something on there causing it to be "sticky"?

I drive lots of gravel and it annoys me Everytime so any help would be appreciated. I have ran through the (touch less) car wash several times since having the work done.

Wow that is neat.
Have you ever waxed your truck? It could be lack of a protective film.

It could also be the quality of finish on the clear coat, depending on product used, and application process.

Best guess, give it a good wash. Clay Bar the door (possibly the entire truck) and reapply your favorite sealant (wax, ceramic, hybrid) and see what happens.

Last thought, it could be an electric/static charge...If a wire harness was not reconnected correctly or the mounting bolts don't have good metal to metal contact, that could result in the door being a different charge than the rest of the truck, which could cause dust to stick to it...

Interesting thoughts. I bought it used, and while I have not done any sort of protective coating, no guarantees that the previous owner didn't.

I did think about at least trying a good hand wash and clay bar just to see what happens, so may still go that route.

I do need to take it back to the dealer that did the work for a couple other items, so may just ask them about as well.

As far as the ground, that is an interesting idea. I wonder if they remove the door to paint?

I would check with the dealer before doing the clay bar or wax. Regardless of their application process many shops require paint to be left without sealants/waxes for a period of weeks or months before they recommend applying them.

Good to know. I will touch base with them before making any decisions.

One other thing that I found interesting. When this got repaired, the roof got repainted as well for some other damage. I haven't noticed the same attraction of dust to the roof panel, but it is also much more difficult to see that...
