Hello yall,

I have a 2016 F150 lariat 5.0 with a whipple. Unfortunately I have 3.31 gears and a super 8.8, since I plan to tow a travel trailer later, I’d like to upgrade my axle and gearing (I understand even towing limitations with an f150, not gonna tow a massive trailer). I’d really like to put 4.10 gears in the truck but my local shop wants $4k with a true track and I’d still have the super 8.8. Ideally, If I could find a 4.10 geared 9.75” axle with an E-locker, that would be great, I could also swap a raptor front end and get a Torsen 4.10 front diff with that as well. I don’t want to swap a raptor rear axle since it’s significantly wider than I would like. I’ve seen that the 2014 f150 tremor came with a standard width 4.10 e-locker 9.75 axle. Being that it’s a 12th gen, I don’t know if it will swap over cleanly, I’m pretty sure raptor axles of that year will swap but I’d love confirmation from someone who knows. If I can’t make this work I’ll try to find 3.73 gears and a 9.75 e locker which I know will work, but I wanted to investigate this first to see if anyone knows.

Thanks!

You might browse what's available from these folks to see if they offer anything intended for your model-year (avoiding cross-year compatibility questions) that you would like at a price lower than your local quote.

National Differential - Remanufactured Front & Rear Differentials - Rebuilt Differentials Shop

I recently got a rebuilt axle for my 2005 F150 from them, complete from backing-plate-to-backing plate including complete new parking brake assemblies installed, an easy DIY bolt-in swap, and with the pre-paid core-return shipping it cost me a fraction of what my local shops quoted.

They ship your rebuilt axle on a pallet with re-usable tie-down straps, makes the core-return really easy. Even with 20-years of superficial rust on my take-out, with a shot limited-slip and pinion seal, they gave the full quoted core value with no questions asked. Tip - take pics of the rebuild on the pallet before removing to help with getting your return properly 'mounted' on the pallet.

About 3-weeks between order and delivery while they built my specified replacement, the rebuilt axle has been great, the whole transaction was a positive dollar saving experience.

Just for your consideration (I have no affiliation with the vendor), have fun!

Bump to see if anyone knows the rear axle mounting differences (if any) between a 2014 f150 and a 2015-2020?
