So I decided I liked the @Diode Dynamics SSC2 Pro lights over the SSC3 for my truck because they are sleeker being less bulky. I don’t off road and I just like having auxiliary lighting for darker roads and what not.
I didn’t realize at the time that the SSC2 don’t allow for the SSC1 pods to be installed on the mount like the SSC3 so that was a bummer. Anyway, I waited until their next sale which was the Summer sale and picked up a set of SSC1 pods.
I made a mock up with a paint stirrer from Home Depot to see how I liked it. Some companies sell bracket extensions but they are very long from online dimensions and I only needed 4.65” from what my cheap caliper gauge said.
Here is the wood mockup which was far easier for me to work with at 11pm in my garage.
I then used my highly accurate cutting device (sawzall) and cut a piece of aluminum flat from Home Depot and made these.
I then added these to my ditch light bracket to have the SSC1 pods pointed at nearly a 90 degree angle so I can light up my sides.
It leaves me with this as a final result. I’m not sure how to coat the aluminum so it’s black, I’m not very savvy in that and usually I use an appliance epoxy spray and throw in the oven to bake on, but not positive that works on aluminum? Anyways just wanted to share in case anyone thought of doing similar. The piece of aluminum flat cost only $13 and I have plenty left to try something else if needed.
