Took the new truck skiing for the first time today. When descending a mountain pass I usually downshift to maintain speed. Does this limit the PowerBoost regen? What is the best way to maximize the regen without wearing out the brake pads? Is regen always on or do you need to press the brake pedal?

Is 0 RPM really 0 RPM when downshifting?

There was no cruise control due to snow and ice covering the front sensors.

I’ve learned that anytime you take your foot off the accelerator it switches to regen mode, I only press the brake to kick in the electric mode if I want. Cruise control downshifts and raises rpm when going down hill. I really don’t feel any braking while in regen? You can play around with this while monitoring the screen that illustrates where the power is coming from or going to. Hope this helps

When coming down the mountain I've been using ECO mode when possible. This "seems" to bias the EV mode more, but I don't know if it really does... seems like it though.

Also, I think pressing lightly on the brake uses regen mode first until more braking power is needed then the physical brakes engage. I don't know this for fact but seems to be what I think I observe.

I don't know if it's a "post July 9th" build date thing but the Snow Plow switch that was supposed to come on the truck I ordered in March and wasn't built until November (after the 7-9 changes) was replaced with a "Hill Decent" button.

While I was dissapointed that I now have to access my Snow Plow wiring harness through a touch screen menu rather than a physical switch... Hill Decent works very well.

I always have the ev coach up. When braking it will be green when you are using the regen braking and as the green bar fills up (due to increased brake pressure) the scale will eventually turn white, as the mechanical brakes begin working. Most individuals who say the brake performance of the f150 powerboost is lacking don’t understand the electric/regen brakes kick in first until you request more braking force than the regen can produce.

if additional braking force is needed and you want to stay in regen you can downshift to allow compression braking, which can help keep you in regen braking longer. This can also help reduce mechanical brake wear.

Yup. Regen first then mechanical kicks in when brake request is greater than regen brake capacity. See above.

The only time mechanical brakes kick in first is if you’re in 4a or 4x4 modes. The mechanical brakes kick in first (as they have abs and can stop sliding or skidding from occurring) then the regen will active as the system doesn’t identify slippage.
