For those that have hardwired their dash cams, what is an acceptable level for the battery to run down? With approach lighting, onboard modem, and other fancy systems, can the battery be drawn down to 12V before cutting off the dash cam? 12.2V? 12.4V?

Now debating whether the trucks battery is capable to run a dash cam in parking mode, or if an external battery pack would be better. Don’t want to come out to a dead battery or end up frying some module on the truck.

I have a dash cam and radar detector hard wired. My radar detector is wired up for the ignition but the dash cam is always on. I have a company vehicle so my truck usually goes 5 and 3 consecutive days sitting in the garage.

Usually when I leave in the morning for work I’ll glance up through my window and see the dash cam is still running after 2 or 3 days.

I just ended my 5 day work week and my truck has gone in to “deep sleep” mode and turned off the dash cam.

If you use your truck every day or every other day, you’ll be fine. I’ve had mine set up this way since I bought it in June 2021 and have yet to come out to a dead battery!
