I know there’s already been a post on this, but I’m not able to find it for some reason so I apologize in advance! I’m thinking about going the FDRS route to update my truck, but my old laptop needs to be replaced first. Are there specific requirements I need to look for?

Requirements are in the FDRS thread first post.

256 GB hard drive space is overkill. I do fine with 32GB with some of the largest updates 6 or 8 GB that need to copy over to USB.

From your past posts I don't think you really need it but it is your money to burn. You have same software version as me from early 2024.

If I remember correctly. Ford recommends a Windows 10 Laptop running windows pro 64.
But in reality, and I've been following the FDRS thread here since the beginning. It looks like pretty much any windows laptop or Microsoft surface will work for FDRS. Also people are using windows 11 most without problems although some have had minor and correctable login issues.
I use an older Dell Laptop running Win 10 Pro 64. It's important that the machine has 2 USB ports one for the Mongoose and one for the your thumb drive. If the machine has an ethernet port and you can plug in an ethernet cable to your router this speeds up the process of downloading files from Ford tremendously.
