Just wondering has anyone tried to use a Fabric Marker to change the color of the stitching on the door panels especially for the XLT?

I know it is easier to do on Leather material as you can wipe it up if you colored outside of the lines, but since the XLT is not really leather just curious if anyone else attempted it.

Thanks

Are you basically you just re-thread it?
I am looping the contrast thread through the existing factory thread with a TEX 270 polyester thread. Should be strong enough for the seats. If you zoom in on this Pic you can see my steering wheel, so I carried the orange thread into the door panel arm rests, center console and now the seats to pull everything together. Its easy. Just tedious AF!

Whole lot of ambient going on. Your sig says a 2025 STX, is this a key start? Looking at the thing dangling from the dash next to the steering wheel.

Yes, its a basic bitch that uses that archaic method of starting known as a key. Ive added several upgrades light the ambient lighting, illuminated vanity mirrors, glove box light, updated all the incandescent bulbs to LEDs. I am working on OEM bed lights now. I am also going to upgrade to power seats and dual climate control in the future.

What color is the existing thread on your door panels? Mine was silver-ish....wonder how the dye in the marker pen would actually show on the existing color thread of your pieces?

I'm currently driving a 2018 and have a 2026 on order. You've done nice work on your STX. Hard to believe it comes with a key.

Its coming along and thank you. Yeah my STX came with a key, manual seats, basic sound system, no bed lights, no rain sensing wipers etc. Its just my work truck so I didnt need a Lariat or Platinum, but damn...its almost 2026....loose the key....its like a crank in an old model T at this point.

Can you go into more detail on how you started and ended the stitch/stitching? Kind of needle used, TIA.
Of course....obviously I removed both front seats and separated the cushion from the leanback. I didnt fully remove the covers but exposed enough to access the existing stitching. I used a polyester TEX270 thread with a blunt tip needle. To start i would run the needle through the fist visible stitch and tie it off on the underside of the cushion, once secured I would just loop the new thread through the existing thread. When I got to the end of the top stitch I would then push the needle through the last visible stitch and tie it off.

I still have the rear seats to do. I didnt grab any pics of the process but when I do the back seats I can get some pics.

This was my first attempt. I believe this thread will be strong enough. I wanted to make sure I anchored it securely on both ends of the stitch. I am 285lbs so I should be able to be a good test subject.
