Hey guys, have 22 Powerboost, and lately the last month or so, the start up chimes have only been coming through the cluster, and not the speakers. Once in a great while they will come through the speakers like they should/used too. But that is very rare now? Anybody have any idea why this is? Or have it happen to them?

Thank you in advance for any ideas on why this maybe happening?

It's likely caused by a low 12v battery. Are most of your trips only for a short distance?

If so, this doesn't give the truck time to fully charge the 12v battery, so the battery level will get to a point where the truck turns off certain features to preserve enough capacity for starting.

You can check the state of charge with Forscan (or other OBD tools). Once it drops below 50% or so, things can start getting weird.

Going for a long drive or hooking up a trickle charger to boost the battery level up may take care of the issue.

Since it's a Powerboost, you can also turn on Generator mode, set the AC fan on 5 and make sure there is nothing plugged into any outlet. Leave the fob in truck, close/lock the door and walk away for a while. It'll charge the 12v battery fairly quickly that way.

Why turn on generator mode? is that needed? likewise, is the HVAC hack needed?
I'm asking because a year or so ago my battery went dead after sitting undriven in the driveway for a prolonged time (so a dead battery was not unexpected).
To solve the problem I jump started the truck ('22 XLT Powerboost) and left it running in the driveway for an hour or two and all has been well ever since. I didn't explicitly turn on generator mode or turn the fan up to 5...this was before the so-called HVAC hack had been discovered...

Did you get a OTA update around that time? There was a bad DSP update that caused this and all the chimes would go through the cluster versus the speakers. Ford backdated the update but can't recall if it got sent OTA again or just have to wait until the next round for an update to fix it.

I kind of think its-more the battery thing to be honest. Because when I got in it again yesterday, it was back chiming through the speakers lol. Then today, it was back on the cluster?‍♂?‍♂.

Ok yep, weak battery for sure then. Its weak enough where most modules completely shut down to save battery, so they pretty much cold boot every time you key cycle.
