My step son was a detailer and used Chemical Guys Graphine so I did too and his buffer. It took all day to do my brand new 22 lariat that included the wheels, chrome and all glass. It still looks like new and baby skin smooth. All I have done is wash it a few times. It is available on Amazon for $139 a bit of patience and a whole bunch of labor on your part for the day can produce amazing results>https://www.amazon.com/Chemical-Guy...al+guys+ceramic+coating&qid=1718050776&sr=8-3

Short answer : Absolutely! You will be very impressed at the results. Pan the Organizer and others on YouTube provide great how to videos showing how simple it is. Simply wipe on many ceramic sealers as directed and wipe off residue with a clean microfiber stand back and admire your job then count all the cash you saved!

Where did you get the step by step on doing this including paint correction, clay bar and any other step before applying the ceramic coating?

Did all those steps directed by Detailer Step son. Was not a believer until I am still seeing the Sheeting of water cascading down the painted parts... Stilll think factory paint coating is fine but makes life keeping clean much easier... So much so.

To paint correct and ceramic is the only way you will get your new truck looking it's best. If you do it yourself you can save money but it WILL cost you time. Ask yourself if you want to spend the time not only researching the process but learning HOW to do a good job. It's not easy to get it right the first time. It can be done entirely by hand cheap (no buffer) but you still will need different kinds of polish and supplies. No getting around it. IF YOU DO 'do it yourself' plan for sure to do one smaller section at a time. And don't start with the hood lol! It's a big job. Conversely you can claybar and put a decent regular car wax on and call it a day.

I have had PPF and used ceramic coatings for years now. If you live in an area when they regularly dump sand on the roads like they do here in Colorado, PPF will prevent a majority of the rock chips. I have 15K miles on mine through almost two winters in Colorado, and the front of my truck is still almost flawless. Without PPF, it would easily have a number of visible rock chips.

I have also used many methods and products to repair paint chips. Without significant work, the chips will be much less noticeable with the repair products, but still visible from a few feet away since the hole will not be completely filled.

I used the 9-year version of Adam's graphene, but I would say it lasts closer to two or three years at the most after following the instructions precisely. I haven't found anything that lasts more than two years including GYEON Q2 MOHS EVO Ceramic Coating, CARPRO CQUARTZ UK 3.0, and Nano Bond Ceramic Coating 9H PRO . Many require regular maintenance applications, which to me defeats the purpose of a long-term product. If you have to apply maintenance applications, I would rather use an easy-to-use ceramic spray like Suma ceramic spray. I actually find good spray ceramic coatings easier to apply than wax.

I also often see people stating that you need paint correction before applying a ceramic coating. If you want a flawless finish, that is true, but the same would apply to waxes or sealants. Based on my experience, I just don't appreciate the hours of paint correction to get a nearly flawless finish.

Don't waste your money. You can get the same results for far less. I woud use the Rain X for the glass and Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions ceramic sealer for the paint every 6 months with their other products as you like but be sure to use a clay bar first then apply the sealer. https://www.amazon.com/Turtle-Wax-53409-Solutions-Coating-16/dp/B07XYPS3PS/ref=sxin_17_sbv_search_btf?content-id=amzn1.sym.5cde1a09-4942-4242-87c5-e66d2d3b6a3c:amzn1.sym.5cde1a09-4942-4242-87c5-e66d2d3b6a3c&crid=1P126X40XNI10&cv_ct_cx=turtle+wax+53409&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.7W8C3ugSsFBpDOE5pS5F0Q.xmv3L3Ket1S747Z2wlk9385tpamkp0oCgdTdOUuqqNo&dib_tag=se&keywords=turtle+wax+53409&pd_rd_i=B07XYPS3PS&pd_rd_r=64199154-eaac-4b38-873b-d7103470ef83&pd_rd_w=leqON&pd_rd_wg=y3Ctd&pf_rd_p=5cde1a09-4942-4242-87c5-e66d2d3b6a3c&pf_rd_r=SJ6J9DEVMRR0340GDYCZ&qid=1717978753&s=automotive&sbo=RZvfv//HxDF+O5021pAnSA==&sprefix=turtle+wax+53409,automotive,289&sr=1-1-5190daf0-67e3-427c-bea6-c72c1df98776&th=1

I am on my fourth year with 40K with on the truck with the Antimatter Blue paint looking better than the day I purchased it using the Turtlwax Hybrid Solutions products for very little cost, time savings that are minutes a month vs hours giving excellet results that I would compare with any $1000.00 coating with a worthless warranty that you wil never be able to use, I worked at a detail shop in my past and the expensive paint sealants are a complete rip off and are only worth about 50 dollars in actual product applied. The warranty will always point to a user error in how they care for the coating as a reason to deny any claim.

Check out the product line with Pan the Organizer.

Which Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic Sealer do you use?

Here is another (Graphene) version of a spray on wax from Turtle Wax that may be even better perfoming option than the popular solution mentioned above, according to detailers who have tested / reviewed the product.

Video of the application

Try something like this instead of the traditional clay bar for a newer/easier clay barring solution. These new tech "gentle" claying solutions come in sponge, towel or mitt versions and are becoming the favorite easy to use tool for detailers to use when claying is required

I've always detailed my own vehicles but as I'm getting older I've started to value my time more. So in 2022 when we purchased my wife a new car I had it paint corrected and a 7 year ceramic coating installed. Total cost was north of $1,300+. The coating lasted less than 6 months and that was with hand washing using a 2 bucket method and a PH neutral car soap.

The $20-$30 over the counter waxes and sealants I usually use last just as long and cost a fraction of a ceramic coating. IDK. Maybe my experience was an outlier but from everything I've seen and heard ceramic coatings just don't last as long as they claim in my experience.

Still, if you want low maintenance and your time is too valuable or you are physically unable to do it yourself having a professional take care of it for you might be worth it. I'd just caution not to get your hopes up for longevity and to expect "maintenance" applications.

I would not personally pay $1,000+ for a ceramic coating again, and that's coming from someone that has used a multitude of products detailing my personal vehicles as well as for friends and family over the last 15 years.

I'm sure there are some ceramic coating folks in here that will strongly disagree with my opinion.

My ceramic coating is going on a year and a half. Still looks great. Some people say it’s a day or two to put on. Mine was 4 days with several coats. All done inside. Lot of shops are saying 1 day. Guess it’s all in how they do it.

You are correct about product longevity claims. People have consider that maybe those were lab results or best case. For everyone else, their environmental exposure may be uniquely different.

I'm curious and love to benefit from real world experiences...can you let me know what coating that was? May want to steer clear of that product next time I might consider having a vehicle done. Thanks.

I just watched the Turtle Wax video and was really impressed! I'm going to seriously consider that when my truck gets built. But l can't stress enough to the OP that first 'prep' before you decide exactly what you are going to do IS your most important step! That determines how good it can be period. Many of us including me will NOT have the dealership wash/prep the outside of the truck period. From sitting outside weeks or months the paint is full of different containments and iron and is very easily scratched by 'normal' washing. It's NOT a easy or fast process to prep a full size truck to even begin the first polish/correction of the paint and clear coat. But if you do, either by yourself or a pro, you will be amazed by how much better your truck will look and after that PPF and/or ceramic will keep it that way and make it easier to keep clean.
