What is the best way to jack up the rear end to install lowering shackles. The manual only shows one side of the rear axle, that would work okay if I was changing a tire, but I need the whole back up in the are with the frame on stands. The manual says don't jack from the pumpkin, but I am not sure any other way.

I tried searching but didn't really find a thread that really addressed the issue.

Nevermind, looks like just carefully jacking from the pumpkin and not squish the cover is the way. I think the main reason Ford says don't do it, they are only showing how to change a tire with a scissor jack, not using a floor jack.

Yup, super annoying jacking the entire rear up. I stayed away from the pumpkin as the manual suggested and instead had to use my floor jack to lift one side up first, then place the jack stand on that side, and repeat on the other side. Then had to reverse this entire process when bringing it back down. Stupid rusty rear diff!

I chocked the front tires and lifted from the hitch with my floor jack, placing jackstands under the frame at times to perform the necessary work. Never even took the wheels off. 45 minutes total.

I ended up lifting from the pumpkin, I don't think my jack would be tall enough for the hitch. I did end up taking the tires off. With the suspension sag and the frame rails being a bit bendy it was easier then raising the jack stands even more.

Main try to torque the top bolt on the shackles was a pita. I apparently also forgot that I didn't have any 1/2 deep well sockets. I had to run out and grab some. My leaf springs also had to be a presuaded a bit to clear the bed rail. I guess they had a bit more curl to them then for other people they just kinda popped over the rail when I jacked up the rear end.
