I put mine over the tailgae plate. I don't use mine as a work truck though. Install the tie downs on the outside of the rug by putting the screws back in to easily use as a giuld to cut the holes with a razor knife since the cutouts are not very acurate. Cut the lights , switch and power panel from the out side using the hole to guide the cut. using a trimmer like darkhorse did looks awesome.
Looks great!Just installed a bedrug in my new 23 Platinum. I didn't like the installs with all the cutouts around everything, so I tried putting everything on top of the rug. The lights and switch was the hardest part. But if you take your time slowly trimming the top of the lights and sides of the switch it looks nice.
I had one installed by a retailer and their installer did a crap job. He didn't account for the hardware and covered the corner tie downs, light switch, and interface plates.
