Anyone install 2024 OEM LED bed lights

Installed the new harness this weekend and works great. Thank you everyone for the help and appreciate the walk through. Hardest part was avoiding dust/dirt in the eyes; overall easy project and love that it’s downstream of the BCM avoiding potential battery drain (seems like it’s a 15min timer)

My truck (with RL3Z-13A409-H harness) lacks the bed utility package. I tried adding the bed lights, but encountered issues similar to those discussed by you and @nthads. Specifically, the K-version harness (which I purchased) had incompatible taillight connectors, causing blind spot sensor errors. I'm looking for confirmation on the correct harness (specifically, if the P-version is the right one).

Would anyone be able to help me with this. I have a 2025 XLT. I’ve ordered the lights and switch but do not have the dummy plugs. Do I need the main harness and the two jumper harnesses? This is a photo of my tag and I have halogen taillights. I have been trying to search these part numbers and I’m not coming up with anything.

I have a 2025 xlt super crew and I ordered this harness ML3Z-13A409-HAJ. I looked at my harness and plugs and they are all the same with the exception of the two plugs that are needed for bed lights. I also ordered ML3Z14A411D and ML3Z-14A411-F for the jumper cables to the lights and switch. I will report back if this all works.

2025 Lariat PB upgrade completed. Hope this helps others. My factory harness was RL3T-13A409-DBF wich is RL3Z13A409H on ford parts. This crossed to RL3Z13A409K (black connectors on tail lights) to add the box lights. I used jumpers ML3Z-14A411D and ML3Z-14A411F. Amazon lights and switch. Updated the truck with Forscan. Easy plug and play upgrade that should be std on all trucks.

I plan to install factory switch, cable ML3Z-14A411-F on the side with switch because it has connections for both switch and LED, and a WPT1116 for the other LED connector. I will tie in manually (cut, solder, heat shrink) at connector C408... Pin 28 is + for the LEDs, pin 31 goes to the switch, and pin 44 takes me to ground for both lights and the switch. Then I need to know what to change in FORscan, but it should all work like factory at lowest cost. Under $70 from eBay.

what is meant by 31 being switched?

if I wanted just basic lights to turn on with the tailgate, I would just use pin 28 and 44 correct?

There's a switch you can add in the bed to be able to turn on the lights if you want while you are loading or unloading the bed. If you tie in to a tailgate switch you don't need pin 31. Be aware power on 28 is not constant power, it's controlled by the computer to get power when the switch in the cab calls for the lights to be on. Pin 31 is another way to have the computer turn power on at pin 28.

Do you know what is switching the power on 28? Is it the proximity lights? Or is it a switch in the cabin that controls something?

I’m working on adding the bed lights to my 2025 302a with incandescent tail lights, with inverter.

My OEM harness is the RL3T-13A409-BBE (RL3Z13A409B). Parts.ford.com describes this harness as:


Usage: 01/08/2024, F150, Crew Cab, Tail lamps - Level 2, Kansas City Plant Build, Less Lighting Packages, Power Inverter #1

But I’ve been unable to determine which of the other harnesses is the correct to replace it with.

I’m assuming Level 2 tail lamps are halogen and I do have the single 110vac plug in the bed. No bed scales.

@GR8BBQ Found your great post on page 3! I just install the kit below on my 24 STX and made all my forscan changes you listed. (Used the easy config) Then verified all correct values in the AsBuilt. My lights wont turn on from the bed switch or inside the cab.

I cut the end off of ML3Z-14A411-F with 4 wires and made my harness.
I tied in the following:
black and black w/yellow to ground on frame
White w/ blue to C408 Green w/ Violet
Green w/ blue to C408 White w/ Green

Does that sound correct to you?

I’m Thinking I tapped the wrong wires @C408 after looking again I have 2 White/ Green (1 thicker and one smaller awg) and what looks like 3 Green w/Violet (1 thicker and 2 smaller awg wires)

Reread this 14 page thread. I cant seem to locate a pin out chart for C408. Everyone states that they tapped #28 & #31 on C408. How did you locate the correct pins numbers?
