The electricity went out again tonight for a few hours. I had my truck backed out of the garage with extension cords plugged into the bed receptacles just in case it did It. Glad I did. I only used the truck to power a couple of lamps and a small heater but that’s all we needed for that short time. Not the first time being used and I bet it’s not the last either. Stay warm!

I’m considering it. Our usual $0.07/kWh is $2.03/kWh right now. Hope everyone losing power stays safe.

I didn't see this thread Friday, but yea, 5 hours and 8 minutes of ProPower onboard running my abode due to a service outage.

Not that uncommon in my kneck of the woods, but was almost inevitable at 17F on the Texas coastal region.

It boggles my mind that Texas can't get their shit together and prepare for cold weather. I laugh every time the grid shuts down because people thought it'd never get cold in Texas.

Sounds like you're well-prepared for those power outages! It's great that you have your truck as a backup power source, especially during colder times. Having a few essential devices like lamps and a heater running can make all the difference. If you’re looking into further options or want to explore electrical engineering jobs near you, AroundWire could be a great resource. Do you typically experience power outages often, or was this one a rare occurrence?
