Airbox plate and plastic tabs (5.0)

Hi all,
posting this for curiosity and awareness. On the 23 5.0, I was replacing my air filter at 10k kms when I saw a plastic tab on the clean air side of the filter. Upon inspection, I found a few more as per pictures, that come from attaching some sort of fibre plate inside the air box. If you have one of these, it may be a good idea to make sure these tabs don’t have any loose pieces, like I did.

Does anyone know what that plate is for? Cannot imagine it for acoustics, as it’s in an odd spot.

I believe it’s to trap carbon if it burps back, it’s some epa item. At least they don’t put it in the flow of air like they do on the Mustang lol
